Mexican Short Stories

We have been looking for the perfect short story for read-aloud presentations. Juan Gonzalez came up with a fabulous list of which the following is just a sample. Mexican authors, modern and classic, and as it happens available free online. This could be a great resource for Nayarit people who do not have good local bookstores.

No oyes ladrar los perros, by Juan Rulfo, http://narrativabreve.com/2013/12/cuento-juan-rulfo-no-oyes-ladrar-perros.html

Hogar Solido by Helena Garro, http://www.cirsociales.uady.mx/revUADY/pdf/238/ru2386.pdf

La Mano del Comandante Aranda by Alfonso Reyes http://www.difusioncultural.uam.mx/casadeltiempo/25_iv_nov_2009/casa_del_tiempo_eIV_num25_125_128.pdf

The plan is to do readings for seniors at local Grupos de la Tercera Edad, "Third Age Groups". To start this program off, this Thursday 19 May 2016, a group of Chacala Primary School children will act out some of Aesops Fables with a reading by the Montessori teacher, Flor, with animal masks they made themselves.
